What Is So Special About A Luxury Brand?

Photography : Style Icon Ltd

Elegant, unassuming and quintessentially British, Launer London represents such qualities and more. It comes as no surprise that the brand is globally recognised for its iconic luxury handbags, spanning over 70 years of heritage. Founded in the 1940s by Sam Launer, the brand has since become the favoured accessory among royalty, especially HM the Queen, who wears Launer at every public or state engagement. Additionally, HM the Queen wore The Traviata at the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. The ‘twisted rope’ hero emblem of Launer is instantly recognisable.

“The Appeal of Launer transcends fashion & has become a legacy of great British craftsmanship and enduring global appeal.”

As an ex-employee of Harrods and Selfridges, I may have come across Launer in-store. I cannot precisely remember when, but the subtle aesthetic of the brand sticks in your subconscious mind. Their structured handbags, use of delicate skins and signature logo reflect their meticulous attention to detail. As such, one bag alone can take up to eight hours to make. Understated beauty tends to be the most alluring, after all.

Launer Personalised Gifts

Launer makes for the perfect his-and-hers personalised gift from exquisite purses to card wallets in the finest leather. Their buttery ebony black eight-credit card wallet with coin purse is an avid shopper’s dream, offering plenty of room for cards and – you guessed it – spending temptations as a result. It is the ultimate show-off piece that oozes class and sophistication. The large logo purse in magenta patent and Capri blue is a striking contrast to their majestic black wallets. All styles represent discerning taste, essentially, with a modern pop-of-colour twist. Every product has turned edges – a method used in leather craftsmanship since the early 1900s. Launer received a royal warrant in 1968, recognising the brand as a regular supplier of goods to HM the Queen. As a result, the royal warrant crest adorns the interior of each item.

Fit For A King & Queen

Money cannot buy class or style. Those who naturally have such attributes will, of course, gravitate towards Launer. Not only it is a luxury brand, but one that also epitomises finesse and sprezzatura. Treasurable items require regular upkeep; hence, regularly use an eyeglass cloth to wipe away fingerprint marks that are more visible on patent leather. I suggest keeping the presentation box and purse cover for safekeeping, but neither should be a place to store your new treasures permanently. Show them off with pride, considering they are fit for a King and Queen.

The Traviata, in black leather patent, is now showcasing at the V&A exhibition – Inside Out – for its longstanding association with HM the Queen until January 2022. What is more, Launer is well known for its charity initiatives in support of Wellbeing Women and Elbi – a non-profit organisation co-founded by supermodel Natalia Vodianova. Stockists include Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason and Fenwicks.
